When completing your weekly focus writes, make sure your paragraphs REEC!

R-RESTATEMET OF THE TOPIC—INTRODUCTION SENTENCE.  Make it a good one that captures the reader’s attention.

EV-EVIDENCE—SUPPORT your topic with specific evidence.  Your evidence could be a fact, detail, example or description. The evidence used depends upon the topic you’re writing about.

EL-ELABORATION—GO DEEPER! Provide more description or depth about your evidence.  This could include why the detail is important or relevant to the topic or an explanation of evidence in greater detail.

C-CONCLUDING SENTENCE—wrap up your paragraph with a sentence that summarizes the paragraph and leaves the reader thinking. This sentence should be concise and well-worded.  Take time writing it, so it doesn’t appear as an “afterthought” or run-on sentence.
