Budget Vote Information

ROMULUS CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT, SENECA COUNTY,

BOARD OF EDUCATION ANNUAL MEETING MINUTES (BUDGET VOTE/BOE ELECTION)

HELD TUESDAY, MAY 21, 2019 from 12:00PM – 8:00PM

At 12:00pm Noon, the polls were declared open for the annual meeting.  Present were Suzanne Nicholson-District Clerk, Carol Cooper, and Ralph Walborn Sr. There was no one waiting to vote at the opening of the polls.

The polls closed at 8:00pm with Suzanne Nicholson, Ralph Walborn Sr., Carol Cooper, Bernie Payne, Martin Rotz, Bob McCann, and Seth Brandow, all present.

The results of the voting (total 139 ballots cast) are as follows:

PROPOSITION NO. 1 - RESOLVED THAT the Board of Education of the Romulus Central School District, Seneca County, is hereby authorized to expend a total of $12,152,409 for the operation of the school of said District for the school year 2019-2020 and that said sum be raised by tax upon taxable property of said School District after first deducting the estimated money available from State Aid and other sources.  This proposition PASSED WITH 111 VOTES/ 26 no votes.  (107 yes/26 no machine votes and 4 yes/0 no absentee votes)                                                                                                     

PROPOSITION NO. 2 - BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Board of Education of the Romulus Central School District authorizes the withdrawal from the Capital Reserve Fund-Purchase of Buses a sum of money not to exceed one hundred and fifty thousand dollars ($210,000) for the purchase of one (1) 66-passenger school bus and two (2) 6-passenger vans for the transportation of District students, said amount to be expended in the 2019-20 school year.  This proposition PASSED WITH 112 VOTES/ 24 no votes.  (108 yes/24 no machine votes and 4 yes/0 no absentee votes)

PROPOSITION NO. 3 - RESOLVED THAT pursuant to Education Law, Section 259, the Board of Education of the Romulus Central School District, Seneca County, is hereby authorized to levy and collect an annual tax, year after year, separate and apart from the annual school district budget in the amount of $20,000 which shall be paid for the support and maintenance of the Edith B. Ford Memorial Library.   This proposition PASSED WITH 93 VOTES / 45 no votes.  (90 yes/44 no machine votes and 3 yes/1 no absentee votes)

KIMBERLY WOLVERTON WAS ELECTED WITH 122 VOTES (118 machine votes, and 4 absentee votes)

Write in Candidate RACHELLE FLETCHER WAS RE-ELECTED WITH 19 VOTES. (As written: Rachelle Fletcher 10, Rachel Fletcher 8 and Cheryl Fletcher (1)

Write-In votes received: Kara Schrader (2 votes), Ron Seils (1) and Ronald Seils (1 vote), Melody Collinsworth (1 vote), Lynne Doyle (1 vote), Hunter Hansen (1 vote), Andrew Hudson (1 vote), Carrie Jessop (1 vote), Linda Mastellar (1 vote), Thomas Rath (1 vote) and Lori Scarrott (1 vote)
