Principal's Message

Greetings Romulus Families;

The first two months of school have gone by quickly.  Our fall sports teams are wrapping up their seasons (good luck to all of the teams in sectionals) and our first quarter is coming to an end.  As we finish up the first quarter please discuss with your child the importance of finishing up the quarter strong by stopping in to see teachers about any back work that they might owe, or what they can do to get ahead if they have the time to do so.  Homecoming weekend was a success.  We celebrated with a fun pep rally (hosted by the seniors), a bon fire (thank you Romulus FD), and a fun dance.  Thanks for all your help in making these first two months of school a success.

As we move forward into the school year, we are looking for students to take more responsibility for their work and their grades.  We have given all students the ability to check their grades and their assignments in school tool.  All they need to do is go to the webpage, click on the student tab and then click on the school tool icon.  Students need to put their log in and password that they use EVERY SINGLE day to get into our system and they can keep track of their progress.  Students who take responsibility for their grades tend to be more successful in school.

Please ask your child about their personalized learning experience in the secondary school.  Our district is asking more teachers to personalize their lessons and to create an educational experience that is much more student centered.  I am impressed with the college feel that I am seeing in our secondary school.  You will find students navigating playlists and doing station rotations in the hall and throughout the classroom.  Sometimes they are working alone and other times they are working with a small group.  Be sure to check with your child and ask them to describe this new style of learning.

For parents of students who drive to school, please remind them that driving to school is privilege and if they continuously come to school late, the school can suspend that privilege.  If your child has not turned in their parent/student signature sheets at the back of the student packet their computer privileges will be turned off as of Monday October 23rd at 8:30.  All students who have not turned in the sheet have been given another one.

That is all for now.  Again thanks for a great start to the school year, here’s to a safe and MILD winter!
