Superintendent Office

Greetings Romulus Families,

Welcome to the start of the 2020/2021 School Year! From all of us at RCS, we are excited to be reopening school after what has been an extraordinary year for everyone. We have spent the summer planning for a safe start and having students & staff back inside the school!

Speaking of safety. We are so thankful for the work of our staff and the support of the community in getting to the point where in-person, hybrid, and remote experiences can be offered this year. We will be following the latest guidance on distancing, personal protective equipment, and disinfecting throughout the facility. We will be screening everyone for symptoms or conditions related to COVID-19.

We know students and families are eager for reopening. Although the start of this year will look a bit different than others, our staff is working harder than ever to maintain as much of the Romulus culture as we can. For example, we will be starting out without extracurriculars like sports and after-school clubs. This we are doing to make sure we can maintain safety procedures like disinfecting through the regular school day. Once we can safely add in more activities, we will. Athletics will start up when completed guidance is in place from NYS and we feel confident in carrying out that guidance. We will continue to promote school activities through our website, Facebook page, and Twitter. You can access these from the school website at www.romuluscsd.org or follow us on twitter at RomulusCSD. If you are passing by on SR96, see these messages displayed on our new digital marquee.

I am proud to see the support and investment our staff & community make in our school. As we look forward to this year and many more ahead, we value these partnerships as the core of what makes RCS such a wonderful experience for students. Right now, we are making plans for how best to manage our reserves through a difficult fiscal climate. Our Board of Education has already begun studying our anticipated state aid revenues, reserves, and existing budget.  Our administration and staff are teaming up and stepping up to do all they can to improve and expand programming.

We will overcome the challenges placed before us. Our motto remains “Children First, Learning Always”.  Each year we learn and grow to make RCS better. May the excitement of a new year be with all of you!
